Bronco Max: Error 10

Error 10 indicates the printer is having difficulty reading or detecting the smart chip in the label/supply roll.

DuraLabel printers require supplies with a smart chip that contains information about the label material, size, color and appropriate printer settings to ensure optimal print quality and efficiency. Without access to this information, the printer cannot print. The chip is housed on the end cap that has the DuraLabel label. This chip must face the antenna in the printer for it to read the material.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Ensure that the roll of label stock is from DuraLabel by confirming the part number. BroncoMax supply will start with T... This information can be found on the supply box or by selecting the roll icon in the top right corner of LabelForge Pro or on the printer screen.
  2. In the BroncoMax if you are looking at the cutter, the label should be facing the left side of the printer.
  3. Power cycle the printer to ensure that it is not stuck in error status.
  4. Load a different roll of label material into the printer to test if the machine is failing to read multiple rolls. Ideally this should be new supply so that we can confirm the part number from the box.
    1. If the issue only occurs with a single roll then this indicates the chip in the one roll of supply is defective and should be replaced.
    2. If all rolls present the error, there may be an issue with the printer’s antenna.
  5. Smaller supply in the BroncoMax can occasionally have difficulty reading due to the distance between the smart chip and the antenna.
    • To resolve this, remove the end cap from the supply and slide it along the label spindle toward the back of the printer.
  6. If the error continues contact Tech Support or your Account Manager for further instructions.
