Learn how to quickly load your DuraLabel Kodiak Max Industrial Sign & Label Print System with premium vinyl supply and quick load ribbon cartridges for single color or two-color printing.
1. Verify Materials and Order Contents 0:07
- Confirm you have the required supplies before starting:
- Premium vinyl supply
- Premium ribbon cartridges
- Note that premium vinyl and ribbon cartridges are sold separately unless included in your kit or bundle.
- Check the packing list to verify the exact contents of your order.
2. Prepare and Load the Premium Vinyl Supply 0:33
- Open the premium vinyl supply box and remove the roll.
- Remove the tabs from the vinyl roll.
- Place the vinyl into the supply well area.
- Ensure the DuraLabel sticker faces outward toward the open lid side of the printer.
- Extend the supply width from 4 inches to 10 inches as needed for the roll size.
- Position the vinyl fully into the supply well area.
3. Feed and Secure the Vinyl Roll 1:04
- Unlatch the feed roller bar.
- Feed the premium vinyl so it passes the yellow sticker and sits just after the tape guides.
- Lower the feed roller bar back into place.
- Secure the latch to hold the vinyl in position.
4. Remove the Blank Ribbon Cartridge from Print Head 1 1:26
- If you are printing in two colors, remove the blank ribbon cartridge from Print Head 1.
- Lift the cartridge until it clicks.
- Pull the cartridge off and set it aside.
5. Install the Premium Red Ribbon Cartridge on Print Head 1 1:43
- Open the premium red quick-load ribbon cartridge box from the top.
- Remove the ribbon cartridge from the packaging.
- Check orientation before installation:
- The cartridge sticker should face the open lid side of the printer.
- Place the cartridge securely onto Print Head 1.
- Make sure it is fully seated.
- Lift it back until you hear a click, then gently lower it down.
- Secure the latch.
6. Prepare and Install the Premium Black Ribbon Cartridge on Print Head 2 2:18
- Open the premium black ribbon cartridge box from the top.
- Remove the cardboard inserts from the new cartridge.
- Confirm the cartridge sticker is facing the open side of the printer.
- Undo the latch for Print Head 2.
- Lift the print head until you hear a click.
- Install the premium black ribbon cartridge until it is secure.
- Lift again until you hear a click, then slowly lower it.
- Secure the latch for Print Head 2.
7. Confirm the Printer Is Ready for Printing 3:01
- Verify the Kodiak Max is loaded with premium vinyl and two quick-load ribbon cartridges.
- For two-color printing, confirm the printer is ready to use supported color options such as black, white, orange, blue, red, yellow, and green.
- If printing a one-color sign, ensure the blank ribbon cartridge is inserted and secured on Print Head 1.
- Connect the printer to a wireless network or PC.
- Open LabelForge PRO and begin creating signs and labels.
Cautionary Notes
- Do not assume all supplies are included; verify the packing list before loading.
- Check cartridge orientation carefully: the sticker should face the open lid side of the printer.
- Ensure the vinyl is fed past the yellow sticker and tape guides before securing the feed roller bar.
- For one-color printing, the blank ribbon cartridge must remain installed and secured on Print Head 1.
- Make sure each cartridge is fully seated and latched before printing to avoid loading errors.
