Kodiak: Error 11

Error 11 indicates that the printer cannot detect the notch/hole or black mark on the back of the label.

DuraLabel printers use information programmed on the smart chip to determine the location of a notch or black mark on the supply to align with preprinted objects or die-cut labels. If the prints/cuts are misaligned or the printer errors, the printer likely needs calibrated, the media sensor needs adjusted or the driver settings are incorrect.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Power cycle the printer to ensure that it is not stuck in error status.
  2. Ensure that the adjustable media sensor is aligned with the notch in the supply or the black mark on the back of the liner.
  3. Confirm the cutter is set to labels with notches or black marks in the driver or onboard the printer.
  4. Calibrate for the supply type…
    • Kodiak: Print one label from onboard the printer to ensure the printer is cutting on the notch/hole.
  5. Ensure that the label size in LabelForge Pro matches the label size on the supply. The printer will error if it does not see the black mark or notch within 13mm of the end of print job.
  6. The Kodiak may not cut on the notch/hole when the blank ribbon cartridge is loaded in slot one. For single color printer, blank/placeholder cartridge should be loaded in slot two.
  7. Determine if the smart chip has the correct media/cut format and is the original end cap for that supply. End caps transferred from other supply frequently cause this error.
