KodiakMax: Error 13

Error 13 indicates that the cutter is jammed and cannot seat home in the KodiakMax will present Error 10 for cutter jam.

DuraLabel printers include an automatic cutter that actuates after each label to ensure a clean edge for smooth feeding and operation. Over time, the cutter can build up adhesive that requires periodic cleaning. On occasion, the cutter can become jammed with adhesive or label material. If not cleaned often, the cutter can get stuck and may need a more thorough cleaning, dismantling or replacement. In most cases this can be resolved by cleaning the cutter. In extreme situations, the cutter can seize and may need to be replaced.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Power cycle the printer to ensure that it is not stuck in error status.
  2. Confirm that the printer is detecting Ribbon and Supply. The printer can present this error if it tries to print with invalid supply.
    • See Error 10 or Error 22 for resolution.
  3. Lower the heat settings. Excessive heat can cause label to stick to ribbon and raise up past cutter ramp.
  4. Confirm that the supply type matches the settings in the printer. To cut blackmarked or die-cut supply the printer settings need to be set to the appropriate label format (Continuous, Die-Cut/Notched, Blackmark).
    • See Error 11 or Error 12 for resolution.
  5. Clean the cutter with the included swabs or a cloth and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol.
  6. If the error continues, contact Tech Support or your Account Manager for further instructions.
