KodiakMax: Error 2

Error 2 indicates that the supply sensor cannot see supply (may be offset) or there is not enough supply on the roll to finish the job or the machine detects the trailing end of the supply before job would finish (supply out).

DuraLabel printers use an adjustable media sensor to detect the presence of supply to ensure there is enough label material to complete the print job. In most cases, this error is due to misalignment of the media sensor.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Power cycle the printer to ensure that it is not stuck in error status.
  2. Confirm that the supply is loaded correctly. it should be fed past the yellow “FEED VINYL PAST LINE --” label.
  3. Verify the supply is being fed through the media guides (allow 1-2mm of space so that they don’t crush the tape.)
  4. In the KodiakMax, calibrate the sensor by navigating to Settings, Advanced, Calibrate Supply Sensor.
  5. In the KodiakMax, slide the orange media sensor all the way into the printer and then pull it all the way back out.
  6. In the KodiakMax it should align with one of the notch/holes above the supply.
  7. Use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol or a cleaning swab to clean the media sensor.
  8. In the KodiakMax, verify that the metal ramp with the notches/holes is properly seated. If not flat, it may cause the sensor to be misaligned.
  9. Load a different roll of label material to ensure there is no issue with the specific supply type. Shiny material can cause sensor issues due to reflectivity.
