KodiakMax: Error 3

Error 3 indicates that the KodiakMax cannot detect the leading edge of the label supply.

DuraLabel printers feed/back-feed supply upon lid closure to ensure the label material aligns properly with the print location.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Power cycle the printer to ensure that it is not stuck in error status.
  2. Verify the supply has a straight edge. If it is jagged or uneven, cut it so it has a clean edge.
  3. Confirm that the supply is loaded correctly. It should be fed past the yellow “FEED VINYL PAST LINE --” label.
  4. In the KodiakMax, calibrate the sensor by navigating to Settings, Advanced, Calibrate Supply Sensor.
  5. Slide the orange media sensor all the way into the printer and then pull it all the way back out.
  6. Align the media sensor to a different notch/hole so it is closer to the edge of the roll of supply.
  7. Use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol to clean the media sensor (the supply sensor is on the bottom portion of the sensor - underneath the "dip" at the end of the media sensor). To be able to access the bottom of the media sensor, it may be best to remove the metal ramp underneath the sensor.
  8. Verify that the metal ramp with the notches/holes is properly seated. If not flat, it may cause the sensor to be misaligned.
  9. Load a different roll of label material to ensure there is no issue with the specific supply type. Shiny material can cause sensor issues due to reflectivity.
  10. If the error continues, contact Tech Support or your Account Manager for further instructions.
