KodiakMax: Error 406

Error 406 indicates that the object and canvas colors in the software do not match the colors of the ribbon and label supply. This is most likely to occur in a compliance module or if strict color matching is on.

The LabelForge Pro software includes several compliance modules that require a specific combination of colors and/or supplies. These include Chemical Labeling (GHS), Arc Flash, NFPA/RTK and Pipe Marking. If the correct colors aren’t selected or the correct supplies aren’t loaded, the software will provide an error. This ensures that labels aren’t being produced out of compliance.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Ensure that the correct supplies are loaded for the compliance module. For example, supplies with Warning, Danger, Caution and Notice preprinted on the roll are typically used for printing with the Arc Flash Module. For Chemical Labeling (GHS/HazCom), ensure that the correct number of diamonds are selected and the appropriate authority is selected.
  2. In the KodiakMax ensure that the correct color ribbon and supplies are loaded. For Arc Flash this would typically be black and red (Danger), orange (Warning), yellow (Caution) or blue (Notice). For Chemical Labeling red and black ribbon should be loaded.
  3. NFPA/RTK labeling requires the red/yellow/blue diamond to be preprinted on the supply. The printer will fill in the variable information in black.
  4. If Strict color matching is enabled in the driver or “Only Print with Colors Selected” is active on the standalone printer this error can trigger. Ensure that the object color on the canvas matches the ribbon color loaded and the background matches the label supply loaded.
  5. If best color matching is enabled, the printer will attempt to apply the closest color matching the objects and background on the canvas. To enable, change color matching to "Best" in the driver or choose "Print With Best Color Match" on the standalone printer.
  6. Ensure that the roll of label stock is displaying the correct part number. The printer will display the appropriate background headers/diamonds based on the chip programming. If the SKU is incorrect this may indicate that the incorrect supplies are loaded or the supply is not from DuraLabel.
