How to Create a Chemical Label from a SDS Sheet | LabelForge PRO

Learn how to create compliant chemical labels in LabelForge PRO using the Chemical Labeling Module and information directly from an SDS sheet. This walkthrough covers selecting HazCom or GHS authority types, managing chemical databases, adding hazard symbols, signal words, hazard and precautionary statements, supplier information, and preparing the label for printing with the correct diamond settings.

 

Open the Chemical Module 0:09

  • Click on 'Chemical' on the left-hand side to open the Chemical Module.

Select Authority Type 0:16

  • Choose the appropriate authority type (e.g., Hazcom or GHS).

  • Click 'OK' to proceed.

  • Decide whether to use the default chemicals database or a custom empty database.

  • To switch databases, click on the paper and gear settings icon, select 'Load Database', and choose 'chemicals_empty' if desired.

  • Use the SDS sheet to gather necessary information: chemical name, EC number, UN number, RECAS number, signal word, and additional information.

  • Access Section 2 of the SDS for hazard statements, precautionary statements, and symbols.

  • Update the signal word and add required symbols.

  • Open the hazard statements interface.

  • Use the search bar to find and add relevant hazard statements from the SDS sheet.

  • If statements require edits, click to highlight and modify the text to match the SDS sheet.

  • Click the pencil edit icon in the supplier section to enter supplier information from Section 1 of the SDS.

  • Click on the 'Save' option to save the label. Ensure the supplier name matches the actual supplier.

  • Change the diamond supply setting to match your printing needs (e.g., one diamond).

  • Ensure the print diamond borders setting is correct.
