How to Create a NFPA & RTK Label from a SDS Sheet | LabelForge PRO

Learn how to create NFPA and RTK labels in LabelForge PRO using information directly from an SDS sheet. This step-by-step walkthrough covers selecting the correct module, managing chemical databases, entering hazard ratings and signal words, adding health hazards and optional PPE, and saving and printing compliant labels all in one streamlined workflow.
1. Select NFPA Option 0:15

Open the labeling software.

Select the NFPA option from the left-hand side menu.

Ensure the NFPA diamond option is selected.
2. Choose Database 0:49

Decide which database to work with:

Default NFPA database (1,700 pre-loaded records).

Empty NFPA database (custom entries).
-

Click on the settings option on the right side.
3. Load the Desired Database 1:33

Highlight the database you want to switch to (NFPA or empty).

Click OK to confirm your selection.
4. Add New Chemical 2:01

If using the default database, click to add a new label.
-
If using the empty database, you will be presented with a new chemical entry.
5. Enter Chemical Information 2:32

Fill in the chemical name and CAS number (found in Section 1 of the SDS).

Add the signal word (found in Section 2 of the SDS).
6. Add Ratings 2:58

Enter the ratings based on Section 5 of the SDS.

If specific ratings are needed, select them from the drop-down menu.
7. Add Health and Organ Hazards 3:29

Review Sections 2, 8, 11, and 15 of the SDS for applicable health and organ hazards.

Add this information to the label.
8. Include PPE Symbols (if needed) 4:19

Click on the PPE symbols drop-down to select appropriate symbols.

Refer to Section 8 of the SDS for required PPE.
9. Add Comments (if needed) 4:45

If comments are necessary, add them in the comments section.

Ensure to enable comments in the settings if they do not appear on the label.
10. Save the Record 5:39

Click on the floppy disk icon with the stack of coins to save the record.

This will add the label to the selected database.
11. Print the Label 6:07

Select the print option located at the bottom right-hand side.

Click on print to finalize the label.
