Toro Max: Error 7

Error 7 indicates the printer is reading that the supply is currently empty or that it may be locked.

DuraLabel printers require supplies with a smart chip that contains information about the label material, size, color and appropriate printer settings to ensure optimal print quality and efficiency. Without access to this information, the printer cannot print. The chip is housed on the end cap that has the DuraLabel label. This chip must face the antenna in the printer in order for it to read the material.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Ensure that the roll of label stock is from DuraLabel by confirming the part number. ToroMax supply will start with T... This information can be found on the supply box or by selecting the supply icons in the top right corner on the printer screen or the printer icon in the top right corner of LabelForge Pro if printing from the PC. If the printer is showing a "!" icon over the supply icons when looking, it may not display the part number and the supply box will be needed.
  2. Ensure that the end caps with the DuraLabel Label are not being switched between other rolls of supply. Because these end caps track size, color, and mileage swapping end caps can cause adverse effects on print quality including running out of mileage prematurely causing error 7.
  3. Ensure that tape is not stored directly next to or on the printer. Due to the nature of how the end caps are read it is advised to store supplies at least one-foot or further from the printer to prevent any accidental readings of nearby tapes that may cause the mileage to empty earlier than intended.
  4. Load a different roll of label material into the printer in order to test if the machine is failing to read multiple rolls. Ideally this should be new supply so that we can confirm the part number from the box.
    1. If the issue only occurs with a single roll then this indicates the chip in the one roll of supply is defective and should be replaced.
  5. If error continues, contact Tech Support or your Account Manager for further instructions.
